SMEG Dryer TEST CYCLE
How to place the dryer into the test cycle:
Step 1:
- Starting from the central position (12 o’clock position), turn the program selector knob counterclockwise to the drying program: Wool Finish.
- Press the buzzer reset button and the on button simultaneously.
- After 3 seconds, the test cycle starts.
- Press the Start Pause button to perform the next step in the test cycle.
Step 2:
- All the symbols on the display will light up, and you can hear an acoustic alarm.
Step 3:
- The display shows the power supply voltage and the software version.
Step 4:
- The values measured by the sensors appear on the display: heating element and door.
Step 5:
- Motor clockwise rotation. In this phase, the sensors are checked to see if they are on an open circuit. If the sensors are on an open circuit, it is not possible to access the next phase of the test cycle. When the Start/Pause button is pressed, a double beep is heard. Instead, a single beep is heard when the sensors are on an open circuit.
Step 6:
- Heating elements start at 900 W.
Step 7:
- Heating elements start at 1600W.
Step 8:
- The dryer stops.
Step 9:
- The motor turns counterclockwise.
- Short circuit the humidity sensor by touching the plate with one hand, as shown in the photo below. Check if the sensor is short-circuited. It is not possible to start the next phase of the cycle tests when they are short-circuited. When the Start/Pause button is pressed, a double beep is heard. Instead, a single beep is heard when the sensors are on an open circuit.
Step 10:
- The dryer stops.
Step 11:
- The pump activates.
Step 12:
- The last three error codes are shown on the display.
- It is not necessary to press the start button.
- If the start button is pressed, the first step of the test cycle is started again.
SMEG Dryer Error Codes
SMEG Dryer Error Codes | Errors Explained |
---|---|
error 0 | error constant value: The same value is displayed for five minutes. |
error 2 | full water tank error. |
error 3 | program selection knob failure error. |
error 4 | NTC heating element error: The NTC sensor circuit is open or shorted. |
error 5 | door NTC error: NTC short-circuited or with an open circuit |
error 6 | heating element’s error: The heating element temperature is over the limit. |
error 7 | door-high temperatures’ error. The door temperature is over the limit. |
error 8 | filter cleaning error. The filter is full of fluff and lint. |
error 9 | belt error. The belt is broken. |
error 10 | temperature difference error: The temperature difference between the heating element NTC and the door NTC is 60 degrees. |
error 11 | The temperature of the resistance increases rapidly between 15 and 25 seconds. |
error 12 | open-door error. The door opens during the drying cycle. |
error 13 | high voltage error (exceeds 265 V). |
error 14 | low voltage error (less than 165 V). |
error 15 | Maximum time achieved error The drying process is established within the time limit. |
error 16 | Drum error. If it is detected by the sensor, it will be displayed at the beginning of a drying program. |
error 17 | program selection knob error. The error occurs if the program selection knob is turned during a drying cycle. |
SMEG DRYER TROUBLESHOOTING
1: The appliance does not work as it is not powered.
- Check the power supply and wiring; if they are okay, check the main board, and if necessary, replace it.
- Check the connections to the on/off switch.
- Check the anti-disturbance filter and connections.
- Proceed with the replacement of the control board if no anomaly is found.
2: The drying level selected cannot be achieved, and the time it takes to dry the clothes is excessive.
- Check the heating element relays on the board, and if necessary, replace the software and the main board.
- Check the NTC sensor of the heating element and replace the heating element, if necessary.
3: It is not possible to select the drying program.
- Check the potentiometer.
- Every time the program selection knob is turned, the value must increase by 1 kOhm; if it does not, replace the knob.
- Check the connections to the board, and if necessary, replace the main board.
4: The drum does not turn.
- Check if the belt is secured.
- Check if the motor relays work; if they do not work, replace the motor.
- If there are no problems with the motor, check the software and replace the main board if necessary.
5: The program does not move to the next step, even if the tank is empty.
- The float could be broken or not properly fixed.
- Proceed with the replacement, if necessary.
